Pharmaceutical Engineering is concerned with the study of
various processes required for production of dosage forms, bulk drugs,
biological products etc. A systematic understanding of various unit operations
and the principles therein which constitutes
various processes in chemical and pharmaceutical industries is necessary for
every pharmacy student.
The book has been
written keeping in view the syllabus prescribed by Pharmacy Council of India
for B. Pharm. semester III students. The book comprises of five units. There
are in all 13 chapters in the book distributed in the five units. These include
flow of fluids, size reduction, size separation, heat flow, evaporation,
distillation, mixing, drying, filtration, centrifugation, material of plant construction,
corrosion and basics of material handling. An attempt has been made by the
authors to explain the perspectives of these unit operations in a clear and
simple language. Diagrammatic representations of the various equipments have
been given to elucidate their principles, construction and working.
